Best Belt for Big Dudes? | Week 3 Weigh-In (2016)
One of the things about losing weight that is simultaneously frustrating and encouraging is the fact that your wardrobe is in a constant state of flux.
For no item is this true more than for the trusty belt.
If your belt is anything like mine, it's been through a lot.
My fluctuating weight has taken its toll on my poor belt, and it's definitely showing fatigue from a hard life of desperately trying to keep my pants on my ever-expanding waistline.
The holes are all worn. The buckle has left permanent indentations on the leather. The grain is scratched beyond all recognition.
Poor belt. I feel bad for it.
That is, until my wife bought me a new kind of belt for Christmas last year.
I actually heard about Slide Belts for the first time about five years ago. I attended a leadership conference with the guy who would eventually become the CEO of the company. He told me then that he was bringing a unique kind of ratcheting belt system to the market that would be perfect for a larger guy like me.
I was skeptical.
Keeping my pants up is hard work, a fact to which my past belts can readily attest.
For five years I completely forgot about Slide Belts until one day I looked at my frayed belt in dismay and asked my wife to get me a new one for Christmas.
Having had my Slide Belt for around half a year now, I can definitively say it's the best belt I've ever had. Period.
The leather is high quality. The ratcheting system is excellent. And because there's no holes or pins, there's no wear to the leather.
But the best thing about it isn't any of those things.
The best thing about it is that it's adjustable.
Slide Belts come in one size (up to a 48" waist). The only tool you need to adjust the size is a pair of scissors. As I demonstrate in my video, it doesn't even need to be an especially sharp pair of scissors.
You cut it to size (I used the length of my old belt as a guide) and attach the buckle by slipping it on and flipping over a clamp. And voila! You're set.
Best of all, when you lose weight, instead of moving to another hole in the belt, you just cut off another inch or two.
Even better is the fact that once you cut your belt — you can't go back. No surrender, no retreat. Some might see this as a negative, but I see this as the main reason this belt is the perfect belt for weight loss.
Anyway — enough with the plug for Slide Belts. They're not paying me to say nice things about them. I don't even know the CEO particularly well. I just really like the product so I thought I'd share.
